This page includes the largest family of shorebirds (Scolopacidae). It includes the Sandpiper/Tattler/Willet/Yellowlegs/Curlew/Whimbrel/Godwit/Turnstone/Red Knot/Dunlin/Dowitcher/Snipe sub-family (Scolopacinae) and the Phalarope sub-family (Phalaropodinae). This family, along with Plovers, Oystercatchers, Avocets, Gulls, Terns, and Alcids, is a member of the order Charadriiformes. (Note: titles with an * have only a picture, not an article)
