Camano Island Field Trip (10/26/02) Highlights

It was a cloudy, cool day in the 40’s but it did not rain.

We had a very good raptor day with 7 species including Merlin and Peregrine Falcon. Three loon species, many large flocks of Snow Geese flying, Bonaparte’s Gulls and loons feeding on a school of fish, Marbled Murrelets, both kinglets and a few Purple Finch.

Our last official stop was at the Stanwood Sewage Ponds where there were 8 species we hadn’t seen earlier, including many Northern Shoveler and Ruddy Duck, Common Goldeneye and Ring-necked Ducks. There were 11 birders and 69 species sighted.
