Cavanaugh Ponds and Black River Riparian Forest Field Trip (10/28/02) Highlights

We saw the Cedar River full of sockeye salmon, mostly alive but enough dead carcasses to cause a smell.

The best birds were a Brown Creeper, both Kinglets, Downy Woodpecker, Bufflehead, Common Merganser, Ring-necked Duck, Belted Kingfisher and Green-winged Teal.  There were 8 birders and 21 species sighted.
