Montlake Fill Field Trip (8/25/03) Highlights
There were 12 birders, plus a Seattle Times reporter, Maria Gonzalez, for this Monday morning Hotspots trip to the Montlake Fill. A Times photographer, Jimi Lott, joined us from about 11:00-11:30.
It was a sunny, warm day and we still had some good birding. Highlights of the 30 species we saw were an Osprey, two Pectoral Sandpipers and some Killdeer at the main pond, a Spotted Sandpiper in the canal, good views of Great Blue Heron and Pied-billed Grebes, Rufous Hummingbird, Hairy Woodpecker, Double-crested Cormorants perched in a dead tree and a brief glimpse of a Green Heron as it flew into the marsh.
A complete list is available from Hugh Jennings.
