Montlake Fill Field Trip (9/14/02) Highlights
The weather was perfect for birding - sunny, 65-70 degrees - and a number of good birds were seen.
At the northwest wetland marsh, we had an American Bittern, Cooper’s Hawk, Green Heron and Great Blue Heron all in view at the same time.
Other highlights were a Wood Duck, Ring-necked Pheasants, Lesser Yellowlegs and Least Sandpiper at the main pond. An Anna’s Hummingbird was feeding at flowers at the horticulture center grounds, and there were many American Goldfinch and two Western Tanagers. There were10 birders and 39 bird species sighted.
