Perry Creek/Big Four Meadow Field Trip (9/8/02) Highlights
On an overcast fall Sunday morning, 13 birders/naturalists began a beautiful hike on the Perry Creek trail in the Verlot area, northeast of Granite Falls.
A trip around the marshes at the Big Four picnic area and a walk to the ice caves topped off the day as a light rain began in the afternoon. Under the tutelage of Fred and Ann Weinmann and Warren Jones, 115 species of plants and 14 species of ferns were identified. Only six species of birds were seen on this quiet fall day.
