Join EAS and Sierra Club members on January 14 to honor Shannon Harps, Sierra club activist, who died on New Year's Eve.  We dedicate our January movie, Alaska’s Arctic Wildlife, to Shannon in memory of her work for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

As you watch this stunning documentary, marvel at the majesty and beauty of the Arctic, the northern lights, the brief wildflower season.  150 bird species nest in the Arctic – see them courting, nesting, and growing their young on the tundra.  See the migration and survival behavior of belugas, walrus, seals, polar bears, grizzlies, caribou, arctic fox, and musk ox.  Watch a bowhead whale hunt.

Enjoy a 6:15 dinner-in-the-round with other environmentally-friendly people from both organizations (bring your own brown bag dinner; hot beverages will be provided).  On January 14, our dinner topic will feature the 2008 Priorities for a Healthy Washington.  Tim McGruder will lead a discussion on the four legislative priorities selected by environmental organizations as “must pass” for 2008:
Climate Action and Green Jobs
Evergreen Cities
Local Solutions to Global Warming
Local Farms - Healthy Kids

Tim will also tell us how to get involved in Lobby Day on January 23, 2008.

If you want to find out more about these topics before movie night, please go to:
http://www.environmentalpriorities.org/

Come at 6:15 to get in on everything or at 7:15 for just the movie.
