This Carnation Valley reserve is a mixed forest replete with ponds and streams, beaver, mountain beaver, wood peckers, native plants, and a wide array of macro-lichens and moss.  We expect to see many varieties of mushrooms along the meandering forest paths in late fall.  The forest and wetland habitats at this reserve support a wide variety of plant, bird, wildlife and aquatic species, so bring your binoculars.  Easy walk.

Bring good walking shoes, raingear, and perhaps an umbrella.  Please bring mushroom, plant, and bird guides as the leader is not an expert. Bring snacks and beverages; option to go out to lunch afterward.  Please let the leader know you are coming so we don’t leave you at the trailhead.  For more information, contact Sunny at 425-271-1346 or sunny@sunnywalter.com

Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the reserve entrance.  Directions: take SR 520 east to its end (in Redmond) and head north on Avondale Road. Turn right in 1.25 miles onto Novelty Hill Road, continue 2.4 miles to 218th Ave NE (0.7 mile past the 208th Ave NE signal light). Turn left into the south entrance of the park, elevation 525 feet (telephones and restroom). Watch for a brown sign.
