Our Columbia Basin geology tour takes us up the Lower Grand Coulee, with spectacular thousand-foot basalt cliffs and talus slopes, and past a series of alkaline lakes. We will stop at a few of these lakes, Lenore Caves, and Dry Falls Interpretive Center.  We will eat our sack lunches at Deep Lake in Sun Lakes SP.

We will then visit Eskers and Kames National Natural Landmark north of Hwy 2 and Crown Point Vista overlooking Grand Coulee. We will loop back south along Banks Lake and Steamboat Rock in the Upper Grand Coulee, then continue south to Summer Falls and the huge Ephrata boulder field.

Dry Falls LakeOur guide, BLM geologist, Brent Cunderla, joins us in Ephrata; we will have several geology books and DVDs to entertain us on the way over.  Bring sack lunches, beverages, hearty snacks for later in the day, walking shoes or boots, water, field guides, binoculars, and cameras.

Meet before 6:30 a.m. at the Issaquah P&R (Tibbetts Creek lot).  Return home at 6:30 p.m.  Limit 10.
