Habitat Restoration at Marymoor Park

Habitat restoration work parties at Marymoor Park are held the first Saturday of most months (excluding holidays) from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration for these events is required so an accurate headcount can be made by our team leading up the event.
Volunteers meet at the central kiosk in Parking Lot G to receive parking passes and tools—all provided by Eastside Audubon’s Habitat Stewards. Individuals participating in restoration events are asked to bring work gloves and wear clothing that can get dirty and hold up to physical labor. Suggested attire includes thick pants and a long-sleeve shirt.
These events take place rain or shine and volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather. Closed-toed shoes are also required for participation in the event. Lastly, it is recommended that volunteers bring water and a snack (work at these events can be strenuous!). Please note that we skip July. It is a good idea to check this site periodically for any other changes.
What to Expect at the Work Party
No prior experience in habitat restoration necessary! The type of work completed by volunteers at restoration events varies from month-to-month and season-to-season. Work can include the following:
Removing invasive species of plants
Native plant installation
Mulching of existing plants
Event activities stop at 11:45am to put away tools and sign out. Students and other volunteers requiring signed paperwork to track hours can follow-up with the habitat stewards at the end of the event for signatures. If a volunteer needs to leave early for any reason, let a habitat steward know and make sure to sign out. Volunteers under 18 must bring a completed waiver form to participate.
