CANCELLED Photography Group Field Trip: Photographing Skagit Valley Eagles

Registration is required for this event.

The Photography Group of the Eastside Audubon Society will meet at Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center to learn and practice the essentials of photographing eagles. The event will take place during the salmon migration run that attracts large numbers of eagles and other birds to the Skagit Valley. Joe Ordonez, the Education Coordinator of the Interpretive Center, will give a brief presentation. Ordonez is a nature photographer and author of Where Eagles Gather, the Story of the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve.

Besides camera gear, participants should bring rain gear, snacks, and water. Please note that the restrooms on I-5 from Seattle to the Rockport turnoff may be closed.

We will meet at 9 a.m. in front of the Interpretive Center.  The event should last about 2 hours at the park,  but participants may choose to stay longer or go to one of the other viewing areas. A contribution of $10 to the Interpretive Center is encouraged.

Accessibility: Involves a hike of approximately 1 mile on a trail that is relatively flat but potentially muddy.

  • This event is entirely outdoors but is restricted to fully vaccinated persons only. Wearing of a mask is optional.

  • Participants are required to self-assess prior to the walk and must not attend if they have any COVID related symptoms (e.g. elevated temperature) or have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past two weeks.

  • The trip leader is fully vaccinated.
