FIRST-TIME BIRDER WALK AT TOLT-McDONALD PARK IN CARNATION

  • FIRST-TIME BIRDER WALK AT TOLT RIVER-JOHN McDONALD PARK IN CARNATION (parking lot) 31020 Northeast 40th Street Carnation, WA, 98014 United States (map)

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS BIRD WALK.

This field trip is for the novice birder, someone with little or no birding experience. It includes a combination of instruction and field time. The trip leaders Lori and Kendall will first cover topics such as birding etiquette, bird identification, using field guides, birding apps and binoculars before heading out into the park for a bird walk. At the conclusion there will be time for Q&A. This trip is a good primer before heading out on your own or joining other Audubon field trips.

This event is not suitable for young children, children 10+ are permitted if accompanied by a parent/guardian. The trip is free but limited to 8 people. Participants must provide their own binoculars. The pace for this walk will be leisurely, mostly on gravel or dirt trails that can be uneven but fairly level in grade, with a few stretches on the paved path. The distance covered will be less than three miles. There are portable toilets available.

The following COVID-19 safety protocols apply for this bird walk:

  • All participants must be fully vaccinated.

  • This event is entirely outdoors, so masks are optional at this time.

  • Participants are required to self-assess prior to the walk and must not attend if they have any COVID related symptoms (e.g. elevated temperature) or have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past two weeks.

  • The trip leaders are all fully vaccinated.
