  • Robinson Canyon Kittitas County WA US (map)

ROBINSON CANYON - SATURDAY, MAY 20

$25 donation to Eastside Audubon for Bird-A-Thon

Registration closes on May 18th at 5:00 pm.

Robinson Canyon is well-protected area within the L.T. Murray State Wildlife Recreation Area in Kittitas County. This bird hike is about 5 miles roundtrip with a gradual elevation gain of 1000 feet and involves crossing lower Robinson Creek (Note: we will not cross upper Ainsley Creek nor scramble to a viewpoint). The trail is not developed, and the hike is rated “difficult” in the Desert Hikes book however, we will stay in a “moderate” area of walking. We hope to see MacGillivray’s, Yellow, and Nashville Warblers, Pacific-slope and possibly Gray Flycatchers, Warbling and Cassin’s Vireos, Western and Mountain Bluebirds, Western Tanager, Rock Wren, Yellow-breasted Chat, Bullock’s Oriole, Lazuli Bunting, swallows, and raptors.

We will leave from the parking lot of the Tibbetts Park & Ride in Issaquah at 6:00 a.m. and return by late afternoon.

Bring lunch, snacks, and fluids. Wear hiking shoes or boots. Our local western rattlesnakes are part of this ecosystem but are avoided with little problem.

Leader: Andy McCormick, 425-518-0892.

Carpool: In addition to the donation for Bird-A-Thon, there is a carpool cost per passenger of $25.
