Board Recruitment August 2021

Ready to add a new purpose and connections to your life?

By Lori Danielson

Eastside Audubon’s board of directors is seeking up to five new board members in the next few months. Being on the board is a great opportunity to meet new people and support an important environmental conservation voice on the Eastside. Our current board works well together, advancing the work we all care about and supporting our staff and volunteers. We have a great mix of people who really care about birds, the environment, and our organization.

We’re prioritizing expanding the diversity of the board’s membership, so we’re looking for candidates of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and neighborhoods, as well as younger professionals.

The open board positions that we’re looking to fill include these chairs: Education, Community Outreach, Volunteer Coordination, Communication, and Financial Development. We have job descriptions for each of these positions and can provide those on request.

Besides our board positions, we have other volunteer opportunities too, including those coordinating our program night speakers, citizen science, adult education, hospitality, holiday gift wrap event, and our Birdathon fundraiser, among others.

We’ll be holding an online open house to talk about volunteer openings on Wednesday, September 15th at 7 p.m. via Zoom. In it, we’ll talk about the organization, the open positions, and we’ll answer questions.

If you’re interested in one of the openings, know someone who might fit the bill, or want to attend the virtual open house, please send an email to President Lori Danielson at lddanielson@gmail.com or complete the form found at the bottom of www.eastsideaudubon.org/volunteer
