Micro-volunteering at Eastside Audubon
By Lori Danielson
Psst … Do you know what it takes to keep an organization like ours running? The secret is that it requires volunteers to do the vital work that keeps us alive. Volunteers can do powerful work in bite-sized chunks, with many of the tasks being small and having a limited scope. We offer volunteers easy tasks that can be done anytime, anywhere, on your own terms. The assignments are short – usually no more than 30 minutes – and many are not location-specific. You can be a micro-volunteer from anywhere in the world!
What interests you? You can:
Write articles for the Corvid Crier or website as often or infrequently as you like.
Do computer work, like posting events to the website, compiling reported volunteer hours annually, publicizing our events, or maintaining email lists or the membership database.
Arrange speakers for our monthly program nights.
Contribute your professional knowledge and talent in such areas as finding new office space, mapping, legal, scientific, etc.
Organize events like habitat restoration work parties, membership picnics, dinners for volunteers or fundraising events.
Be an ambassador for Eastside Audubon at community events, perhaps staffing an information table.
Or provide your own ideas about where your talents might be useful!
We are committed to attracting and retaining a diverse group of volunteers and we will honor your experiences, perspectives, and unique identity. Together, we strive to create and maintain an organization that is inclusive, equitable and welcoming.
Volunteering with Eastside Audubon offers:
The chance to work in a respected environmental organization that supports birds, wildlife and the habitats they need here in eastern King County.
An opportunity to learn more about conservation issues and birds.
The opportunity to interact with many others and make new friends.
A chance to develop new skills or enhance existing ones.
Training that allows you to gain skills and knowledge.
The ability to make a difference for birds, contribute to the community and support an important cause.
What would you like to do? I’d love to hear from you. Send me email at president@eastsideaudubon.org or fill out the interest form at https://www.eastsideaudubon.org/volunteer.
