Leah Turner won the Eastside Audubon Photo of the Month honor in September for her photos of Greater Yellowlegs shot at the Redmond Retention Pond. This was the third time Leah won the award.

She was also the winner in August.

“I waited patiently for the sun to get to just the right height in the sky a little after dawn,” she says. “The trees were just starting to change to their fall colors, so there was a beautiful gold and green reflection on the water. I crouched down very low to the ground so that my lens would be at eye level with the shorebirds.”

You can see more of Leah’s work on Instagram.
