President’s Letter: Audubon Washington’s Legislative Priorities

By Lori Danielson

Audubon Washington has identified several priorities for the current Washington State legislative session to fight climate change and preserve conservation funding. They’ve made it easy to engage with your representatives and make your voice heard on these important issues. The priorities include a clean fuel standard to reduce emissions from transportation, updates to our state’s growth management act to include climate change as a planning element, and providing needed funding to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, as well as grant programs that fund habitat protection and restoration. You can read more details about the priorities here.

Engaging with your state representatives about these issues is easy! At Audubon Washington’s action center you can send email to your representatives that already has the points detailed but that can also be personalized. It’s also a place to sign up for regular updates about what is happening in the legislative session in regard to these priority issues.

I encourage you to engage with your representatives and be a voice for birds and our communities. It’s one of the most powerful things you can do to fight climate change.
