Objective:
Enhance environmental awareness and inspire the next generation of conservationists by expanding Eastside Audubon’s school programs. Share your enthusiasm for nature and wildlife through engaging, hands-on educational activities tailored to younger students
Position Overview:
As an Education Outreach Volunteer, you will assist in delivering Eastside Audubon’s established curriculum to local schools. Your role will include presenting interactive lessons, coordinating with educators, and fostering a love for nature among students. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on young minds while gaining experience in environmental education.
Responsibilities:
Present Eastside Audubon’s environmental education curriculum in classroom settings or outdoor field trips.
Assist in preparing and organizing materials for lessons and activities.
Engage with students through hands-on demonstrations, games, and storytelling to illustrate ecological concepts.
Collaborate with teachers and school staff to tailor programs to specific needs and grade levels.
Promote environmental stewardship by teaching students about local ecosystems, conservation, and wildlife.
Provide feedback on program effectiveness and suggest improvements to enhance outreach.
Requirements:
Passion for environmental education and working with children.
Strong communication and public speaking skills.
Ability to explain complex ecological concepts in an age-appropriate manner.
Dependable and organized, with a willingness to travel to schools within the community.
Experience in teaching or working with children is a plus.
Availability during school hours (flexible scheduling available).
