Education Outreach Volunteer

Objective:

Enhance environmental awareness and inspire the next generation of conservationists by expanding Eastside Audubon’s school programs. Share your enthusiasm for nature and wildlife through engaging, hands-on educational activities tailored to younger students

Position Overview:

As an Education Outreach Volunteer, you will assist in delivering Eastside Audubon’s established curriculum to local schools. Your role will include presenting interactive lessons, coordinating with educators, and fostering a love for nature among students. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on young minds while gaining experience in environmental education.

Responsibilities:

  • Present Eastside Audubon’s environmental education curriculum in classroom settings or outdoor field trips.

  • Assist in preparing and organizing materials for lessons and activities.

  • Engage with students through hands-on demonstrations, games, and storytelling to illustrate ecological concepts.

  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to tailor programs to specific needs and grade levels.

  • Promote environmental stewardship by teaching students about local ecosystems, conservation, and wildlife.

  • Provide feedback on program effectiveness and suggest improvements to enhance outreach.

Requirements:

  • Passion for environmental education and working with children.

  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.

  • Ability to explain complex ecological concepts in an age-appropriate manner.

  • Dependable and organized, with a willingness to travel to schools within the community.

  • Experience in teaching or working with children is a plus.

  • Availability during school hours (flexible scheduling available).
