Marymoor Assistant Project Manager

Objective:

Support the ongoing success of Eastside Audubon’s habitat restoration efforts at Marymoor Park. This position is integral to fostering a thriving environment for native plants and wildlife, enhancing ecological sustainability, and promoting community engagement with nature.

Position Overview:

The Marymoor Assistant Project Manager will assist in planning, organizing, and executing habitat restoration activities at Marymoor Park. Working closely with the Project Manager, the volunteer will play a vital role in maintaining and improving critical habitat areas while engaging with volunteers and community members.

  • Event Planning: Help organize and occasionally lead monthly work parties.

  • Habitat Restoration: Coordinate invasive species removal and native vegetation planting to support local biodiversity.

  • Volunteer Engagement: Recruit, train, and lead volunteers in conservation activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with coordinating and leading volunteer work parties, including scheduling, communication, and onsite guidance.

  • Monitor and evaluate restoration progress by tracking plant growth, invasive species management, and wildlife activity.

  • Participate in site preparation and maintenance, including removing invasive plants, planting native species, and mulching.

  • Collaborate with Eastside Audubon staff to ensure project goals are met and adapt plans as necessary.

  • Educate and inspire volunteers about the importance of habitat restoration and biodiversity.

  • Document restoration activities and provide regular updates for Eastside Audubon’s outreach materials.

Requirements:

  • Passion for environmental conservation and habitat restoration.

  • Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate groups of volunteers.

  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse groups of people.

  • Experience in ecology, conservation, or related fields is a plus but not required.

  • Availability to commit 5 hours per month, including some weekends.
